Ripple's RLUSD Goes Live on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp Under New Ripple-Robinhood Partnership

Robinhood expects to add RLUSD to its main app later this year, will use the stablecoin on the XRP Ledger for institutional settlement at Bitstamp, and will integrate Ripple Treasury into its own treasury operations.

Ripple and Robinhood have signed a strategic partnership that makes Ripple's dollar stablecoin, Ripple USD (RLUSD), available across Robinhood's crypto businesses, the companies announced on 27 October 2026. RLUSD is live today on Robinhood Chain and on Bitstamp by Robinhood, and is expected to be available in the Robinhood app later this year.

The deal also covers Robinhood's own finances and its institutional business. Robinhood will integrate Ripple Treasury to run its global treasury operations, and Bitstamp's existing financing relationship with Ripple Prime is set to expand to perpetual futures later in the year.

The release does not disclose commercial terms, expected RLUSD volumes, fees or a firm date for the Robinhood app launch.

What is live and what is still planned

The release separates three stages:

Element — Status in the release

RLUSD on Robinhood Chain — Live

RLUSD on Bitstamp by Robinhood — Live

RLUSD in the Robinhood app — Expected later this year

RLUSD on the XRP Ledger for Bitstamp institutional settlement — Robinhood "will leverage" it

Ripple Treasury for Robinhood's own treasury — Robinhood "will integrate" it

Perpetual futures on Bitstamp via Ripple Prime — Later in the year

Only the first two rows describe something available now. The retail app listing, the institutional settlement use and the treasury integration are stated intentions.

Treasury and prime brokerage

Robinhood plans to use Ripple Treasury for cash and liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, payments, risk management and intercompany netting. That makes Robinhood a corporate treasury customer of Ripple as well as a distribution partner for its stablecoin.

On the institutional side, the partnership builds on an existing relationship. According to the release, Ripple Prime already provides Bitstamp by Robinhood with lending and margin financing across roughly 20 digital assets, and gives Ripple Prime clients access to spot trading on Bitstamp.

"Utility is what moves stablecoins forward," said Johann Kerbrat, SVP and GM of Robinhood Crypto and International, adding that Bitstamp and Robinhood will have access to RLUSD for institutional settlement, Ripple Treasury for operations and Ripple Prime for financing. Monica Long, President of Ripple, said the partnership reflects "growing institutional demand for integrated solutions that support both customer-facing offerings and core financial operations."

Distribution is the prize

The 27 October release puts RLUSD's market capitalisation at more than $2.4 billion since its December 2024 launch, and total stablecoin supply above $300 billion. It says Robinhood serves 28.6 million funded customers globally, including institutional clients through Bitstamp.

For a stablecoin of RLUSD's size, distribution through a large retail broker is the commercially significant part. Retail reach, though, depends on the app listing that is still pending; the live integrations today are an exchange and a blockchain network, which mainly serve trading and institutional users. How prominently RLUSD will be offered to Robinhood's retail customers, and on what terms, the release does not say.

The announcement came during Ripple's Swell 2026 week. On the same day Ripple also announced an expanded custody collaboration with BNY and a trade finance initiative with C2FO, both using RLUSD or the XRP Ledger.
